"Dr. Shelton Goes to Austin"
Dr. Shelton spent years raising his family, building his practice, and being involved in his community.
Dr. Shelton was involved in Lena Pope Home Board and traveled with other board members to Austin to explain to the legislators how to create good policy for children in the Foster Care System. There was a real need for understanding of this vulnerable population. He continued his involvement by going to Austin to testify about the importance of immunizations and other health care issues—including tort reform. Over time he began to see a need for service and wanted his lend his expertise and develop good policy for the future or Texas. His first race in ‘08 for the Texas House was run from the kitchen table with wonderful volunteers. Mark Shelton is not a career politician; he is a person who wants to make a difference, who wants to serve.
